Meet Your Counsellor

"Like the phoenix, we are capable of rising — not in spite of our pain, but because of it.
This practice was named to honour that strength in every person: the quiet, powerful ability to rebuild, grow, and heal."
— Cheyanne
Hi, I’m Cheyanne.
I'm a registered counsellor passionate about helping adolescents, young adults, and adults navigate the tough, messy, and real parts of life.
My approach is grounded in creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and genuinely supported — without pressure, without judgment.
I work predominantly from a person-centred lens, with additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-informed approaches.
I focus on working collaboratively with clients to build sustainable coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, and self-understanding, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

About Me
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in health and sport science, which shaped my understanding of the mind-body connection and the resilience it takes to rebuild after setbacks.
That background still influences how I work — blending structure with compassion, evidence-based strategies with real-world adaptability.

When I'm not in session, I spend time walking, reading, and training for woodchopping competitions.
How I work
I believe therapy should meet you where you are; not where someone else expects you to be.
Working predominantly from a person-centred approach, I integrate ACT principles and trauma-informed strategies to create a steady, grounded space for growth.
Together, we focus on building skills, strengthening insight, and supporting sustainable change over time — at a pace that feels right for you.

When I'm not in session, I spend time walking, reading, and training for woodchopping competitions.
Physical challenges remind me that resilience comes from consistent effort — not patience, not luck, just showing up again and again.
Whether it's rebuilding strength, pushing through setbacks, or aiming for new goals, the same mindset carries across to my work with clients: steady action matters more than perfect conditions.
